I volunteer in my son’s third grade class several times a week. Although it’s shocking to me that not all teachers like parent volunteers, this year my son’s teacher loves when parents help out.  If you’ve been following me for a while, you know that my little guy has had his fair share of struggles in school (before an ADHD diagnosis last year) and I am so happy to report that this year he is finally on the right track. It’s been so wonderful to see him blossom and his teacher is a very big part of his growth.  Seriously, I love her and I am so thankful that she lets me come in and spend time with the kids every week.

Since I am in the classroom so often, I have gotten to know all of the kids and spending time with them is one of the highlights of my week.  It’s a great group of kids and as I already mentioned, their teacher is great. In addition to my time, I try to help out in other ways.  I bring in tissues, supplies and other things from time to time & since St. Patrick’s Day is coming up, I thought it would be fun if I made this Easy Four Leaf Clover Paper Plate Craft to help decorate the classroom.

Here’s what you need:

  • Paper plate
  • Kelly green craft paint
  • Metallic green pipe cleaner
  • Paint brush
  • Pen/pencil
  • Scissors
  • Hot glue/hot glue gun

Here’s what you do:
1. Draw a four leaf clover onto your paper plate with a pen/pencil and cut out with scissors.

2. Lay your clover onto another plate, paint your clover green, and let dry.

3. Twirl your pipe cleaner around your pen/pencil and hot glue it to the back of your clover.

This Easy Four Leaf Clover Paper Plate Craft is a great way to get in the spirit.

Besides bringing this craft into the classroom, I got some fun stuff from Oriental Trading to bring in for the kids, too. Every Friday if the kids are good all week, four names are chosen from a prize box, so all the goodies that I got are going into the prize box.

St. Patrick’s Day is coming up quick, so I sent in some fun Shamrock bracelets, Peanuts® St. Patrick’s Day Buttons, Good Luck Coins and Mini Stress Toy Shamrocks for the kids.

Earlier in the school year I sent in some of these Brain Shaped Splat Balls and they were apparently a hit with the kids because I have been asked by four kids if I could get more since they were the first thing to go. Who knew? Three boxes full of brains went into the school yesterday!

I am so thankful that Oriental Trading has lots of fun goodies for me to bring in for the kids. That’s why I keep going back.

What are you doing for St. Patrick’s Day this year?
